An excellent quality horse measure. The bamboo root is fashioned into the top of this cane and pulls from the cane to reveal a boxwood measuring shaft. There is a right angle brass spirit bubble which can be levered out from the boxwood measure which is then placed on the animals withers. The height in “Hands” can be read from the point at which the measure meets the bamboo cane. The cane is signed “Swaine and Adeney”, pre-eminent makes to English gentry.
