Flicker Cane
Date: 1860
Country: Oriental
A good early example of the gravity flicker. This very innocent looking bamboo conceals a stabbing blade. The cane is plain and simple with a steel capped top and steel ferrule. One holds the cane at the ferrule end and then as if casting for fish with a fishing rod centrifugal forces throw the blade out from the end of the stick. It locks out on two expanding clicks. The blade is re-hidden in the cane by squeezing the sides and gently pushing it back into the bamboo the last part is done by tapping the cane on the ground so as to close the flap without drawing blood!
