A great piece of Japanese folk art. Carved from a single piece of bamboo and with the root ball now attached to the top and acting as a handle the shaft has a carved and signed panel of the 101 laughing faces of the Buddha who found enlightenment on this earth. A very happy chap indeed. (It is a shame he never shared his discovery)
