Japanese Red Lacquer Sword Stick

An interesting early Japanese export sword cane. Fashioned as an old tree branch with a snake winding its way through the hollow. The snake is made from ivory and is set off well against the lacquer, the blade is typical of the Japanese and is known as a “Helmet Splitter”. The button to release the sword from the shaft is on the long side of the shaft.
