Ivory Topped Opium Pipe Cane

A wonderful opium pipe. The bleached ivory is well carved in relief with figures of two gentry and two workers symbolising the bridge that was made by opium in the 19th century.
The Malacca cane has been hollowed out make the shaft of pipe. The bowl is a separate piece of briar which is detachable and would have been kept in one’s pocket. . The white metal ferrule unscrews from the cane to allow the bowl to be attached.The top unscrews from the shaft to reveal a horn mouthpiece.
