Meiji period Japanese warthog carving in ivory. The beast stylized as resting in a crouched position with menacing tusks and upturned snout has a somewhat likeable expression and feel. The top is set on an Imari band decorated with the tree of life, herons and flowers which leads to a Malacca cane with two part metal ferrule.
